Manual medicine is a school of medicine used for curative treatment when there are disturbances of the functions of the musculo-skeletal system leading to problems.
As examination and treatment are carried out exclusively with the hand, manual medicine is separate from both invasive and drug-based medicine.
Manual medicine is fundamentally about restoring the mobility of joints that are intact in form and composition but have functional problems. Problems of function such as limited mobility (blockages) of the spine and the joints, fasciae and muscles are the targets of manual medicine.
Diagnosis and therapy are based on biomechanical and neurophysiological principles and carried out with the hands for preventive, curative and rehabilitating purposes.
